The exact transmission distance depends on the selected module, fiber type, optical link budget, and network installation. For example, 100GBASE-LR4 CFP modules are commonly specified for up to 10 km over G.652 single-mode fiber, while SR10 modules can support approximately 100 m on OM3 and 150 m on OM4 fiber.

100GBASE-LR4 CFP

The 100GBASE-LR4 CFP is designed for long-reach 100G Ethernet transmission over single-mode fiber.

The module uses four optical wavelengths around the 1310 nm band and multiplexes them onto a single duplex fiber pair. Typical LR4 implementations support transmission distances of up to 10 km over G.652 SMF.

It is suitable for:

100GBASE-ER4 CFP

100GBASE-SR10 CFP

It uses 10 optical lanes at approximately 10Gbps per lane and is typically connected using a multi-fiber MPO/MTP interface. Commercial implementations support up to approximately 100 m on OM3 and 150 m on OM4 fiber.

This configuration is particularly suitable for:
